Características del medio
Villarrubia de los Ojos is surrounded by a privileged geography: Between the provinces of Ciudad Real and Toledo, in the foothills of the Sierra Calderina, spurs of the Montes the Toledo, and by the vast plain of La Mancha. Our lands are watered by the Cigüela and Guadiana rivers and comprising such singular events as the Ojos del Guadiana (naming our flagship brand of D.O. La Mancha wines), or the Tablas de Daimiel, a natural wetland, and one of the most important Natural Parks in Spain. In these lands our associates grow indigenous varieties from La Mancha, as Airen, our white grape par excellence, or Cencibel, which is the name given in La Mancha to Tempranillo, the real “Tinta del País”. But also non indigenous varieties that have adapted to perfection, developing, thanks to our climate and soil characteristics, very special organoleptic properties, like Verdejo, Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot…
Características del viñedo
Our vineyards grow in a land with a composition and structure of crucial importance in grape production and therefore, in the quality of wine, as it is the ideal means for the vines’ metabolism: a deep subsoil that can be explored by roots to extract water reserves.
Thanks to excellent climate conditions for vines: hot and dry summers, and cold winters with low rainfall, the vineyards hardly ever needs phytosanitary treatments, which guarantees, year after year, a select raw material that makes unique and special the qualities of our wines.
